Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in muscles and connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage is focused on muscles located below the surface of the superficial muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity (such as athletes), and patients who have sustained physical injury.
Swedish massage is a classic form of massage using varying styles of flowing movements, effleurage, petrissage, tapotement and friction. It can be invigorating or relaxing and has shown to be beneficial in reducing pain, tension and joint stiffness. It is also good for improving circulation, reducing stress, promoting relaxation and sleep.
SPORTS AND REMEDIAL MASSAGE
Massage techniques such as compressions, traction, mobilisations, PNF stretching, neuromuscular, myofascial stripping, trigger points and Swedish massage are combined for an overall curative approach.
Used for chronic conditions, it can help to increase joint mobility, quality and range of movement.
Reduces injury time, aids performance and lengthens sporting careers.
INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE
It is an extremely effective therapy that has evolved from traditional techniques practised in India as part of family rituals for over a thousand years.
Indian head massage involves the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face being treated.
This treatment works on areas of the body particularly prone to stress, especially the neck and the shoulders where tension affects major muscle groups, it can often bring immediate relief. These tensions are eased and fibrous knots and nodules melt away.
Other benefits can include relief from congestion, headaches, eye strain and insomnia.
Heated basalt stones are used to apply pressure and heat to the body. The stones retain heat which then deeply penetrates into the muscles, releasing tension and helping the client to relax and de-stress. Great for easing tired muscles and promoting a feeling of well being.
Clients benefit from this quick, de-stressing, re-energising therapy.
The massage sequence works on pressure points of the upper body (back, neck, shoulders, the arms, hands and scalp).
Treatment times can be flexible, making this more attractive to clients with busy schedules
There is no need to remove clothing and no oil is used.
Treatment can help reduce muscle tension, backache, RSI’s, headaches and stress.
Pregnancy massage can help alleviate many of the symptoms and conditions associated with pregnancy and can be of enormous benefit to both mother and baby.
The abdomen as well as the rest of the body will be treated.
Massage helps to prepare the body for the changes that occur during this time and will help to promote a healthy, happy pregnancy.
Massage during pregnancy has been found to help alleviate: muscle tension, spasm & cramping, sciatic pain, swelling oedema, back, neck and shoulder discomfort caused by hormonal and postural changes.
It can also help improve: Quality of sleep, reduce headaches, relieve heartburn, balance mood-swings and help depression.
Research shows that the baby can greatly benefit from massage as endorphins are released by the mother during massage and are passed onto the baby.
Reflexology is an ancient Chinese technique that uses pressure-point massage (usually on the feet, but also on the hands and ears) to restore the flow of energy throughout the entire body. The science of Reflexology has been around for thousands of years. It is based on the premise that there are reflexes in our hands, feet and ears that relate to every organ and part of our body. By stimulating these reflexes with pressure and manipulation, nerve function and blood supply may be improved, which may alleviate stress and other health problems. Reflexology is based on the belief that each part of the body is interconnected through the nervous system to the hands and feet. Stimulating specific reflex points in the feet can bring needed nutrients to poorly functioning areas of the body. This can help restore balance throughout the body.
THAI FOOT MASSAGE
Thai massage directs pressure and strokes along energy lines to aid in beneficial blood movement. Many of these strokes aid in relieving pressure along major nerve trunks and help unknot lines of the lymph system as well. Small bamboo sticks are used for this treatment, great for pregnant ladies!
Using natural essential oils, blended with a base oil, an aromatherapy massage can be therapeutic to a range of ailments, ie, joint or muscular pain, or can be used to de-stress and relax.
HOPI EAR CANDLING
Using candles, ear wax is broken up and removed to clear out hearing channels, followed by facial drainage massage.
HOT CANDLING MUSCLE EASE MASSAGE
This massage is remedial and targets problem areas using hot wax which is blended with essential oils to relieve tension and knots. Most suited to back, neck and shoulders massage.
Although most treatments are therapeutic, and are designed to be a relaxing experience, where remedial therapies are undertaken to assist muscular conditions etc, ie Deep Tissue or Sports treatments, some bruising to skin may occur. The amount of bruising, varies from client to client. This is a normal side effect in clients who bruise easily and in these cases we advise additional water to flush out toxins.
